Nuno Biga de Almeida

Senior Teaching Fellow

Born on 15 February 1967, he took an Undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering at the Instituto Superior Técnico of the Universidade Técnica de Lisboa in 1990. He holds a Masters degree in Civil Engineering specialising in Construction Science from FCTUC, Universidade de Coimbra, and a Doctorate in Civil Engineering specialising in Construction management from the same university. He attended the 13th Business Management Programme (PDE) at AESE in 1997.

Nuno Biga has been a Professor of Operations and Innovation at AESE since 2008.

During his professional career, he has gained experience in the Civil Engineering and Public Works sector as Works Manager and Technical Contract Manager, holding the position of Director of Quality and Human Resources for a company in that sector since 2000. He was on the Honorary Committee at the International Construction Management Forum, taking place at the Faculty of Engineering of the Universidade do Porto in 2008. He has extensive experience in the development and implementation of quality management systems and in the performance of audits in accordance with the recognised standard ISO 9001. Since 2006, he has conducted applied research in the areas of skill management and value creation in organisations.

He was the Professor in charge of several course units at the Faculty of Science and Technology of the Universidade de Coimbra, in the areas of Economics and Management, and he has also worked with the Faculty of Engineering of the Universidade do Porto and with the Universidade Lusíada de Lisboa.

He is the manager and CEO of a management consulting company (Bigadvantage – Consultores de Gestão, Lda.).

Nuno Biga has published several scientific articles that have been presented at international conferences.

He has been a part of the Centre for Construction Science Research at the Faculty of Science and Technology of the Universidade de Coimbra since 2007, and he also works with the Centre for Technical and Scientific Research at the Institute for Technological Research and Development in Construction Science (ITeCons).

His main hobbies are riding and painting.
