Eugénio Viassa Monteiro was born on 26 June 1944.
He holds an Undergraduate degree in Electrotechnical Engineering from IST and a Doctorate in Philosophy of Human Actions and Organisational Management from the Universidad de Navarra. He participated in the “Senior Managers in Government” Programme at Harvard University.
He is one of the founders of AESE – School for Management and Business. He was the first Dean of the school, holding that position for 17 years. Today, he is the Chairman of the Academic Board and Chair Professor in the Department of Managing People in Organisations and Social Entrepreneurship at AESE.
He is a Visiting Professor at the Instituto Internacional Bravo Murillo (Canary Islands) and the Instituto Internacional San Telmo (Seville).
Eugénio Viassa Monteiro is also the President of the Portugal-India Friendship Association and Managing Director of BAGA, Lda (trading).
He is the author of the book “O despertar da Índia” [“The Awakening of India”].
He is the co-author of various case studies, on “Social” themes and other topics, notably the following:
• Grameen Bank
• The Aravind Eye Care System
• Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation
• Santa Casa da Misericórdia of Lisbon,
• Infosys, India
• Human Resources at Infosys, etc.
He has also contributed Technical Notes, such as “India: a inesperada Revolução do Conhecimento e da Iniciativa” [“India: The Unexpected Revolution of Knowledge and Initiative”].
