Teaching Fellow
Paulo Moniz holds a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico and a Master’s in Information Security from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon and Carnegie Mellon University. He completed his MBA at AESE Business School (2019) and is currently a PhD candidate at the Institute of Social and Political Sciences (ISCSP).
With 29 years of experience in the Information Technology sector, he has held leadership and management roles in cybersecurity, technology risk management, and consultancy, both in Portugal and internationally. He has served as Director of the Information Security and IT Risk Department at EDP since 2010, being responsible for defining and implementing the company’s global cybersecurity strategy across an organization of more than 12,000 employees.
He actively participates in international reference forums such as the World Economic Forum and the International Energy Agency, contributing to global discussions on digital resilience and security within the energy sector.
Before joining EDP, he was Consulting Practice Leader for Cybersecurity at Logica TI Portugal, where he established the Iberian competence center in this field. He began his career at EDINFOR-EDP as an IT systems administrator and analyst.
He is a member of several organizations and committees related to cybersecurity and defense, including the Systems of Cyber Resilience Electricity Group and the CISO Community, both of the World Economic Forum, as well as EuroDefense.PT, CIIWA, and the INNCYBER Innovation Hub.
Paulo Moniz stands out for his leadership, communication, and strategic vision, combined with strong resilience and adaptability in a global and multicultural context.
