After attending the NATO Defense College in Rome, between 2004 and 2007 he served as Military Advisor to the Portuguese Ambassador to NATO. Promoted to Rear Admiral in November 2008, as Flag Officer he was CIO of the PT Navy (2010 to 2013), Deputy Secretary General of MOD Portugal (2013 to 2016). From the 1st of September 2016 to the 31st of May 2025, he was the General Director of the National Security Authority, which includes de National Cybersecurity Centre in its structure.
During the academic year 2013/2014, he concluded the Executive Leadership Program of the AESE/IESE Business School and in October/November 2023 the 10th Non-Executive Management Program of the Portuguese Institute of Corporate Governance. In 2022 he won the IDC’s Best Digital Leader Award in Portugal.
He currently teaches senior management programmes on topics ranging from leadership to the digital maturity of organisations, including cybersecurity, in particular the role that digital literacy plays in preserving democracy in today's societies.

He is a PhD candidate in Economics at ISCTE and holds a bachelor's and master's degree in Economics from the Católica-Lisbon School of Business and Economics. He is a guest lecturer at these two universities, where he teaches Macroeconomics, Econometrics and Economic History, and collaborates with the PROSPER - Centre for Economics for Prosperity research unit at Católica-Lisbon. He is also financial co-director of Opus Dei in Portugal. In the past, he was director of the Montes Claros university residence and director of the GMP executive training programme at AESE Business School.
He also worked in the Planning and Management Control Department at Portugal Telecom, now Altice.
He is also a musician, passionate about choral chamber music, and is a member of the Lisbon Chamber Choir and the vocal quartet 4 Voices.

He is also vice-president of the Iberoamerican Academy of Management. Prof. Berrone earned a B.Sc. in business administration from the Universidad Católica de Córdoba, holds a senior degree in management and international business from the FUNCER Business School, and completed his Ph.D. in business administration and quantitative methods degree at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. He is also an alumnus from IESE where he completed a PDG program. Before joining IESE Business School, Prof. Berrone held two visiting scholar appointments at Arizona State University and he was a visiting professor at Concordia University in Montreal, and Simon Fraser in Vancouver, Canada. More recently, he was a visiting professor at the Nangyang Business School in Singapore.
Prof. Berrone has extensive managerial experience from across Latin America, Europe, and the United States. His professional interests include ongoing programmatic work in three areas: corporate governance, social issues in management and family firms. Prof. Berrone’s academic work has been published in international journals such as the Academy of Management Journal, Administrative Science Quarterly, Strategic Management Journal, California Management Review, Entrepreneurship: Theory and Practice, Human Resource Management, Journal of Business Ethics, International Journal of Human Resource Management, Journal of Management Studies (all these journals included in the FT45 list), Academy of Management Annals, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Small Business Management, Family Business Review, Corporate Governance: An International Review, and Management Research as well as in prestigious Spanish outlets such as Revista de Economía Financiera.
Prof. Berrone has been recognized on several occasions for his outstanding research. In 2015, Prof. Pascual Berrone received the IBM Faculty Award, which recognizes Berrone’s work in researching and teaching strategies for cities and urban development. In 2009, he won the “Best Doctoral Dissertation Award” granted by the Academy of Management. The award was sponsored by the Beard Center for Leadership in Ethics at Duquesne University, Pittsburgh. Also in 2009, he won the “Best Paper Award” in the Corporate Governance Track at the EURAM conference. The award is sponsored by the Center for Family and Enterprise and Ownership (CeFEO). In 2008, he won the Academy of Management ONE Division “Best Paper Proceedings Award”. More recently, his article “The Impact of Symbolic and Substantive Actions on Environmental Legitimacy” was named among the top three finalists for the “Best Paper Award” at the Iberoamerican Academy of Management Conference (2010). His work on environmental innovation was also the finalist for the best paper award at the UAM-Accenture Award (2011). More recently, he has received the “Best Scientific Contribution Award” granted by the Public University of Navarre for work carried out in 2009 and 2010 in the area of Human and Social, Legal and Economic Sciences. This recognition has been recently extended to his teaching activities, as he received the Honorable Mention in the “4th. Annual Dr. Alfred N. and Lynn Manos Page Prize for Sustainability Issues in Business Curricula” (2012).
Prof. Berrone is Associate Editor of research outlet Organization & Environment and is a member of several editorial boards. He is the founder of the “Strategic Madrid Group”, an initiative that gathers world-class scholars and practitioners who are interested in strategic issues. He is also the academic co-director of the research platform IESE Cities in Motion.

He is also the Chairman of the Audit Committee at the European Investment Bank, the Managing Partner at Odgers Berndtson Board Solutions, where he focuses on helping boards establish and maintain strong corporate governance, and Research Associate of the European Corporate Governance Institute. His particular areas of interest are corporate finance, climate finance, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, banking, and financial strategies. From 2018 to 2023 he was the Chairman of the Board of Auditors at the Portuguese Central Bank (Banco de Portugal).
Before joining IESE, he was the Dean of Católica Lisbon. In addition, for a decade he was Professor of Finance at IMD (Lausanne, Switzerland). At IMD, Fernandes directed the Strategic Finance program, as well as other programs for major international companies. He was also a member of the advisory committee of the World Economic Forum. Professor Fernandes holds a doctorate in Business Administration (Finance) from IESE Business School and a degree in Economics from the Universidade Católica Portuguesa.
He has received numerous teaching and research distinctions as an expert in valuation, international financial markets, and emerging market risks. He has published in some of the leading international academic journals, including the Journal of Financial Economics, Review of Financial Studies, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Financial Intermediation, Journal of Applied Corporate Finance, Journal of Portfolio Management, and Harvard Business Review. He is a speaker at business conferences around the world and a regular contributor to international media such as the Financial Times and Wall Street Journal. He is also the author of several books and book chapters, including Finance for Executives: A Practical Guide for Managers (Second Edition), The Value Killers: How Mergers and Acquisitions Cost Companies Billions—And How to Prevent It, and his latest book Climate Finance. His work has been awarded various awards and with a grant from the FDIC (US federal agency in charge of regulating financial entities). In 2008 he received the Lamfalussy Fellowship, an award given by the European Central Bank to the world’s best researchers in the field of finance. In 2015 he received the “Best Paper of the Year Award” in the Journal of Financial Intermediation. In 2022, he won the award as “Outstanding Teacher”, in The Case Center’s global competition, also known as “the Oscars of business education”.
Throughout his career, Professor Nuno Fernandes has advised the boards and C-suites of companies and financial institutions in Asia, Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East on corporate governance, financial strategy, mergers & acquisitions, and sustainability.

Professor Díaz-Giménez has dedicated most of his professional life to doing research and teaching macroeconomics. His recent work explores the macroeconomic consequences of fiscal policy and pension system reforms. He has published the results of his research in some leading professional journals such as the Journal of Political Economy and the Journal of Monetary Economics. He is also the author of the undergraduate textbook Macroeconomía: Primeros Conceptos (Macroeconomics: Primary Concepts).
Professor Díaz-Giménez has consulted for the Spanish Ministry of Industry and, briefly, for the Economic Bureau of the President of Spain.

A sua investigação centra-se no comportamento da oferta e da procura de sangue e órgãos, nomeadamente em resposta a choques exógenos e a alterações políticas. O seu foco principal é o papel das preferências sociais na prestação de cuidados de saúde a doentes com falência orgânica grave, em tratamento oncológico ou em situações de emergência médica com risco de vida. Atualmente, estuda os efeitos de recompensas contingentes na dádiva de sangue, os determinantes da retenção de dadores de sangue e de que forma os sistemas de pagamento em saúde influenciam as decisões relacionadas com transplantes cardíacos. Investiga também os efeitos da epidemia de opioides e das armas de fogo sobre os transplantes cardíacos e renais.

He holds an MBA from IE Business School, a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Business Administration from the University of Navarra and completed his executive education at IESE.
He has an extensive C level executive experience in the financial services, construction, and airport retail businesses in the areas of strategy and corporate development. Starting his professional career at PwC, he has been working in different multinational and national groups, such as Aldeasa (Dufry) or San José Group, among others. He has addressed challenges in corporate transformation processes, strategy design and execution, M&A, or enterprise risk management.
Angel Proaño has been board member in several companies operating in different industries (financial services, real estate, technological services, or insurance brokerage).
Visiting professor at AESE Business School (PADE) in Portugal and ISEM Fashion Business School (PADEM), among others.
Currently combining teaching in Executive Education programs with the activity of senior advisor to CEOs, executive committees, and boards, on strategy execution and corporate governance at national and international level.

For the last 18 years, she has worked in Human Resources, leading a wide range of projects and units at Bank Millennium (Poland), Millennium bcp (Portugal, Angola, Mozambique). At an earlier stage in his career, he worked in Retail Banking, leading sales teams.
