Professor


Adrián Caldart is B.Sc. in Accounting and B.Sc. in Business Administration from the Pontificia Universidad Católica Argentina, M.Sc. in Management and Economics from ESEADE (Buenos Aires, Argentina) and Ph.D. in Management from IESE Business School.
Adrián is the Director of the Strategic Management Area, President of the Academic Council and Professor of Strategic Management at AESE Business School (Lisbon and Porto, Portugal). He is Senior Lecturer of Strategic Management and researcher on the internationalization of the food sector at IESE Business School (Barcelona, Madrid, São Paulo, New York, Munich). Before joining AESE and IESE, Adrián was an Associate Professor of Strategic Management at Warwick Business School (Coventry, United Kingdom) from 2004 through 2009. He has also been Visiting Professor at CEIBS (Accra, Ghana), PAD (Lima, Perú), IAE (Pilar, Argentina), LBS (Lagos, Nigeria), IEEM (Montevideo, Uruguay), ASM (Luanda, Angola) and ESCI-UPF (Barcelona, Spain), among others.  He has worked as a consultant in Strategic Management and Organization in the United Kingdom, Spain, Portugal and Argentina.
Before joining Academia, Adrián was an executive in Corporate Finance (Energy Derivatives Trading and Strategy, Capital Markets, Money Markets) and Corporate Planning (Strategic Planning, Management Control and M&As) at Grupo Perez Companc in Argentina between 1993 and 1999 and at Grupo Techint (1992).

Publications Adrián co-authored the book "The Dynamics of Strategy. Mastering Landscapes of the Firm" (2009, Oxford University Press). His areas of professional interest include Corporate-Level Strategy, International Strategy, and the Agenda of the CEO. He published academic and managerial articles on these topics in The Academy of Management Proceedings, European Management Journal, European Management Review, Management Research, Emergence: Complexity and Organization, Harvard Deusto Business Review, Harvard Business Review Latin America and IESE Insight. He also contributed to several books and wrote over 20 teaching case studies in Competitive Strategy, Corporate-level Strategy, International Strategy, Strategic Alliances and Post-merger integration.

For 13 years he was Administrator of the Logoplaste group in Portugal, Spain, France, England, Germany and Brazil, having developed exploration activities in Switzerland, Austria, Holland, Belgium, Russia and Argentina, with clients including Nestlé, Coca-Cola, Unilever, Danone, Yoplait, Procter & Gamble, Central de Cervejas and Grupo Super Bock.
In 2000 he created an art gallery based on new technologies – Private Gallery – with activities in Portugal, Macau and Dubai.
He works as a consultant in several companies and was for several years a member of the board of directors of a Social Center, on a voluntary basis.
Since 2017, he has been a professor at AESE and IPE in Naples, where he teaches in the area of ​​Company Policy, having also taught at ASM – Angola School of Management.
He is the author of two dozen case-studies published by AESE, and two books published by Editora Almedina, “Manual on how to build the future in family businesses” and “A world waiting for us, globalization manual”. He writes regularly in various specialized media outlets.
Since 2023, he has been president of the Family Council and Family Assembly of the Portugália group and member of the GWIKER Advisory Board.
He is married and father of five children. His hobbies include cooking and music.

He is a professor at AESE in Communication field. He teaches at the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria, in the “Sound and Image” course and also gives training at the Val do Rio Professional School. At ISCTE, he supervises “History and Image” subject in one of the masters.
He has three novels published to date and several articles in the Portuguese press.

He has been responsible for various structuring projects in the areas of Quality Management Systems and Systems Certification, Skills Development and Vocational Training. He is an IEFP Certified Trainer and responsible for various training programs developed in a consultancy context. He has been a guest lecturer at various university and polytechnic higher education institutions since 2001.
He was responsible for various curricular units in the areas of economics, management and civil engineering at the University of Coimbra and at the Leiria School of Technology and Management. Since 2008 he has been a Senior Teaching Fellow in Operations, Technology and Innovation at AESE Business School.
