Adrián Caldart holds a degree in Business Administration and Accounting from the Catholic University of Argentina, a Master’s in Economics from ESEADE (Buenos Aires), and a PhD in Management from IESE Business School.
Adrián is the Director of the Business Policy Department, President of the Academic Council, and Professor of Business Policy at AESE Business School (Lisbon and Porto, Portugal).
He is a Professor of Business Policy and head of research on the internationalization of the food sector at IESE Business School (Barcelona, Madrid, São Paulo, New York, Munich).
Before joining AESE and IESE, Adrián was an Associate Professor of Strategic Management at Warwick Business School (Coventry, United Kingdom) from 2004 to 2009.
He has also been a Visiting Professor at CEIBS (Accra, Ghana), PAD (Lima, Peru), IAE (Pilar, Argentina), LBS (Lagos, Nigeria), IEEM (Montevideo, Uruguay), ASM (Luanda, Angola), and ESCI-UPF (Barcelona, Spain), among others.
He has worked as a consultant in Strategic Management and Organization in the United Kingdom, Spain, Portugal, and Argentina.
Before entering academia, Adrián was an executive in Corporate Finance (Energy Derivatives Trading and Strategy, Capital Markets, Money Markets) and Corporate Planning (Strategic Planning, Management Control, and M&A) at the Perez Companc Group in Argentina (1993 and 1999) and the Techint Group (1992).
Recent academic publications
Adrián co-authored the book “The Dynamics of Strategy: Mastering Landscapes of the Firm” (2009, Oxford University Press).
His areas of professional interest include corporate-level strategy, international strategy, and the CEO agenda.
He has published academic and management articles on these topics in the Academy of Management Proceedings, European Management Journal, European Management Review, Management Research, Emergence: Complexity and Organization, Harvard Deusto Business Review, Harvard Business Review Latin America, and IESE Insight.
He has also contributed to several books and authored more than 20 teaching case studies on competitive strategy, corporate-level strategy, international strategy, strategic alliances, and post-merger integration.
