Catarina Lourenço AESE Team

AESE proposes to collaborate in the formation of the person in his or her fullness, providing means for an analysis and deepening of the personal goals of life, open to transcendent values.

In accordance with the fundamental principles of its activity, AESE seeks to encourage the promotion of an authentic Christian spirit in business relations, through the training of managers, in an environment of professionalism, scientific rigor and respect for freedom. Such training enables them to make a positive contribution in the areas in which daily life takes place.

AESE has the support of the Prelature of Opus Dei, an institution of the Catholic Church with which it maintains a cooperation protocol, for the orientation of the Christian formation activities it promotes.

Company and Family

AESE offers its Alumni a training that faces Man as a whole. In addition to improving the technical skills and soft skills of managers, AESE aims to help reconcile and strengthen the relationships between the Company and the Family.

Family Enrichment Program

Reconciling and strengthening the relationship between family and professional life is a central theme of this area of the Programme. The accelerated dynamics that characterize today’s society makes it increasingly necessary to reflect deeply on social, family and cultural issues.

It is already a tradition at AESE to discuss, in the classroom, the “family business” cases. In these sessions, classic problems of family life, inseparable from the professional dimension, are analysed by means of interactive methods. For this reason, the participation of the spouse is essential, which contributes to a greater deepening and integration of duties as a member of a couple, father or mother, and as a company professional.

Conferences and seminars are also held on topics related to communication in the business and in the family, the role of women in modern society, the need for education in the virtues and other topics of special interest at the moment.

The activities also aim to enable fathers and mothers to intervene in the exciting field of children’s education, in which the development of harmonious and rich personalities is sought, with the ability to respond to the requests and demands of today’s society.

Main themes

1. The marital relationship

2. The knowledge of children

Ethics, Culture and Society

The accelerated dynamics that characterize today’s society challenges leaders, directors and executives to a deep reflection on the core themes proposed by the Social Doctrine of the Church. Ethics is a central issue with repercussions on the life of companies, on the people who constitute them and on society in general.

The relationships of business professionals with society and the environment in which they work have been assuming increasing complexity.

This area of the Programme seeks to analyse and reflect on the realities of today’s culture, which have a special impact on the life of companies, on the people who make them up and on society in general.

Main themes

Conferences and panels coordinated by experts are organized, in which the attendees analyze previously selected topics and participate in the colloquium with the speaker. Issues related, directly or indirectly, to professional, family and social life are studied, such as:

  • Stress and competitiveness in modern society
  • Corruption, bribery and extortion
  • The promotion of moral standards of excellence in organizations
  • Tolerance and permissiveness in today’s society
  • Individualism and solidarity
  • Business and social leadership
  • Business, State and Governments
  • Marketing and the consumer society
  • Media and advertising
  • Career, employment and employability

Chaplaincy

AESE has a Chaplaincy for the service of Alumni and their friends, who wish to deepen their Christian formation. A weekly mass is celebrated in the AESE Chapel, on Thursdays, at 12:15 pm.

In addition to the monthly recollections and retreats he organizes, his chaplain, Fr. Gonçalo Portocarrero de Almada, is always available for personal meetings of enlightenment or spiritual guidance.

The AESE chaplain’s office hours are on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm, on Floor 0, next to the AESE Chapel.

Chaplaincy Bulletins

The Chaplaincy Bulletin is a reflection proposed by Father Gonçalo Portocarrero de Almada. To receive this information in your email, contact Catarina Lourenço.

Spiritual Formation Activities

Led by a priest of Opus Dei, they provide a privileged opportunity for reflection and personal renewal. The recollections at AESE take up lunchtime. The retreats last for a weekend, in locations far from the city.

The Christian Doctrine Study Circles are courses for groups of people interested in deepening their knowledge in the faith. They take place at AESE or in other locations, at the convenience of the participants.

The Chaplaincy also supports doctrinal courses that are promoted within the scope of AESE.

The men’s recollections take place on the second Thursday of each month, in the Chapel of the AESE Business School, in Lisbon (from 13:00 to 14:30), and on the second Tuesday of each month, in Porto (21:15, at Colégio Cedros).
