On October 3rd, AESE – Association of Higher Business Studies was born , in Lisbon, and in the same year the 1st PADE | Senior Management Program of Companies.
The 1st edition of PADE | The Senior Management Program was held in Lisbon, at the Ritz Hotel.
The Program Director was José Luis Lucas, Dean of IESE Business School.

The first edition of “Correio da AESE” was launched, a publication that brought together news about AESE’s training activities and reading recommendations.

AESE creates a delegation in Porto, first teaching PADE | Senior Management Program of Companies.
AESE receives the declaration of public utility by Prime Minister Aníbal Cavaco Silva.

Creation of the Family Business Study Center.

Projected, under the ERDF and with funds from the European Union, the AESE Campus in Lisbon.

Creation of the Chair of Business Initiative
2000
The AESE Campus in Lisbon is inaugurated. It is the first edition of training in Portugal created from scratch with two floors prepared to teach according to the Harvard Business School Case Method.
2001
The 1st AESE Executive MBA Program was created, in partnership with IESE Business School.
2004
The first edition of PADIS | The Senior Management Program for Health Institutions was held at the AESE Lisbon Campus.
2006
The President of the Portuguese Republic, Dr. Jorge Sampaio, decorated AESE as an Honorary Member of the Order of Merit, for meritorious acts and services at the service of society.
2007
AESE became the first Portuguese business school to join the United Nations Global Compact, whose objective is to enforce the 10 Universal Principles of Human Rights, Labour, Environment and Anti-Corruption.
2008
The Social Organizations Management Program | GOES began in Lisbon, in partnership with the Millenniumbcp Foundation and EntrAjuda.
AESE is accredited by DGERT – Directorate-General for Employment and Labour Relations. As of this year, the AESE Executive MBA program has EPAS accreditation – European Programme Accreditation System, from EFMD | European Foundation for Management Development.

Foundation of ASM – Angola School of Management, a project in which AESE collaborates in pedagogical and academic terms.

First edition of the meetings for AESE Alumnae, Women’s Leader Forum.

The first class of PGL | Management and Leadership Program started at the Campus in Lisbon.

The Chair of Ethics in Business and Society AESE/EDP is an institutional initiative of AESE, within an academic area, related to the development of a field of study. The Chair is a fulfillment of the commitment assumed by EDP by subscribing to the principle of Sharing with Society, which aims to share resources with the communities with which an institution relates, increase knowledge and enhance innovation.
The first edition of GAIN | Management Program for Agricultural and Agro-Industrial Enterprises, a program that is currently called GAIN | Management of Companies in the Agri-Food Chain.
2014
The Executive MBA maintains accreditation by EFMD – European Foundation for Management Development – with EPAS, a certification related to the quality and excellence of the program in terms of national and international content, form, implementation and evaluation;
2015
Celebrating 25 years of service to AESE as General Director and President, AESE launched the book “Inspiring Leaders: Words of circumstance”, which compiles some of the most relevant moments of the extensive legacy of writings and conferences of Prof. Raul Diniz.The publication was supported by the Chair of Ethics in the Company and Society AESE/EDP.
The President of the Republic, Prof. Aníbal Cavaco Silva, delivered the Order of Merit for Public Instruction to Prof. Raul Diniz, President Emeritus of AESE.
2016
The President of the Republic, Prof. Aníbal Cavaco Silva, awarded the Commendation of the Order of Merit for Public Instruction to the founder of AESE, Dr. José Luiz Carvalho Cardoso.
2017
AESE carries out long- and short-term programmes in Portuguese territory and across borders, highlighting geographies such as Angola, China, USA, India and Poland.
First edition of the AEMG Program | Advanced Management in Energy
APEX – Alliance for the Promotion of Excellence in Public Administration (AP) is an AESE initiative, resulting from a partnership agreed between the Ministry of Finance and 12 Business Schools and Universities.
2019
The AESE Executive MBA achieves AMBA accreditation and is part of the network of leading international schools in business education.

2020
AESE completed 40 years in the year of covid-19 and became the 1st Business School to receive the Covid Safe brand, awarded by APCER.
In 2020, AESE launched the PADIS ONLINE Forum, an exclusive space for former students of health programs and their guests, for sharing, debating and presenting experiences, solutions and improvements of those who are in the field.
During the pandemic, in the period when leaving home was legally restricted, AESE launched Article a Day as an initiative to connect with the Alumni community. Professors and alumni produced daily articles on management, leadership and response to the crisis, with the aim of supporting reflection on the reconstruction of companies in a context of high uncertainty.
First edition of the DEEP | Digital Executive Education Program
From this experience AESE insight was born, a biweekly publication that brings together articles by AESE teachers and schools in its international partner network. The texts address trend topics and critical analysis in management and are shared with the entire AESE community, which includes more than 30,000 members.
The One Step Ahead Program | Female Leaders, in partnership with the Executive was held for the first time.
2022
The AESE Alumni Group promoted the 1st election of the AESE Notable Student. This recognition, which was given to Paulo Moita de Macedo, aims to distinguish, among the hundreds of Alumni, those who believe themselves to represent in a particular way the spirit and name of AESE, bringing together a set of attributes that make them “special”, which refer to merit in the professional career, the capacity for entrepreneurship and innovation, to the visibility and public notoriety, to the commitment to Social Solidarity and, of course, to the strength of its relationship with the School.
2023
We highlight the following investments and sustainability measures implemented at AESE Business School: Reduction of energy and air conditioning expenses; reduction in the use of paper, since several programs now have access only to digital documentation; we have implemented measures that have resulted in a notable reduction in the consumption of bottled water, contributing to the reduction of plastic waste; placement of solar panels and electric mobility infrastructure; among other measures that reflect the school’s commitment to sustainability.

The Association of MBAs (AMBA), one of the world’s authorities on training in business education, reinforces the seal of quality of the AESE program and the vote of confidence in the pedagogical work that has been carried out in the preparation of Leaders over the last 24 years.
