From childhood to adulthood, Filipe Costinha recognizes that he has been able to develop the skills that have allowed him to currently occupy the position of Business Unit Director at Delta Cafés. His career passed through AESE, having completed the AESE Executive MBA, which he distinguishes as an important milestone in its history.
Effort, persistence, ambition and positivity are some of the lessons that Filipe Costinha transmits, as the leader that he is.
What are the main milestones in your professional career, which contributed to reaching the position of Business Unit Director of Delta Cafés?
Undoubtedly, the two professional experiences prior to this one and the academic training I obtained in parallel, played a pivotal role.
As an Air Force Officer (2010-2015) and Project Department Coordinator at CASES (2015-2018), and with the attendance of the Executive MBA at AESE (2013-2015), I had the opportunity to leverage soft and hard skills, which were valued and are relevant to perform the current role.
There are also people, with whom I have crossed paths over time, who have had/have a preponderant role in my professional career.
What were your main achievements?
Fortunately there are many, both professionally and personally. However, I will focus on only 3:
- Joining the Nabeiro Group was undoubtedly the great achievement at a professional level;
- On a personal note, I will focus on starting a family (I am married and have two children);
- And to have successfully finished the AESE MBA.
What are the main lessons that make you the leader you are today?
My childhood/adolescence was a life lesson. Nothing is achieved without a lot of effort, persistence, ambition and positivity;
The military experience also instilled in me values and principles that I consider to be indispensable for the demanding professional and personal life;
Academic training has strengthened in me the permanent restlessness of updating knowledge;
Finally, the culture and values of the Nabeiro Group have made me a more capable and knowledgeable leader today.
What values do you govern yourself by and that you transmit to your teams?
Integrity, Transparency, Humility, Loyalty, Truth, Trust, Fairness, Respect and Solidarity.
If you could go back in time, what would you do differently?
I wouldn’t do anything differently. If today I am what I am, and I like the way I am, then I strongly believe that the result is a consequence of many decisions I have made, whether they were good or bad.
Professionally, how do you see yourself in 5 years?
I aspire to be a more mature and consolidated leader, as well as prepared to embrace more responsibilities.
