He holds a PhD in Engineering and Management from Instituto Superior Técnico. He completed the AESE/IESE Executive MBA in 2005. He attended several international business schools and universities, including HEC Paris, CASS Business School, London Business School, and ESADE. He holds a degree in Naval Military Sciences from the Naval Academy.
He completed the postgraduate program in Corporate Governance at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon, the Board of Directors Program at IESE, and the Corporate Governance and the Effectiveness of Boards program at the University of Groningen.
He served as an Officer in the Portuguese Navy, where he headed departments aboard warships.
Subsequently, he held various positions in companies in the telecommunications sector and the subsea industry, having been Senior Manager at Aker Solutions UK from 2013 to 2018.
Currently, he is a Management Professor at the Naval Academy and Senior Teaching Fellow at AESE.

He is interested in systems thinking and decision-making, history and technology, multiculturalism, and corporate policy.
In his free time, he enjoys sailing.

He is the author of articles and publications in the areas of corporate governance, systemic approach to risk, and systems thinking.
