Paulo Moniz holds a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico and a Master’s in Information Security from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon and Carnegie Mellon University. He completed his MBA at AESE Business School (2019) and is currently a doctoral candidate at the Institute of Social and Political Sciences (ISCSP).
With 29 years of experience in the Information Technology sector, he has held management and leadership positions in cybersecurity, technology risk management, and consulting, both in Portugal and internationally. He has been Director of the Information Security and IT Risk Department at EDP since 2010, responsible for defining and executing the global cybersecurity strategy for an organization with over 12,000 employees.
He actively participates in leading international forums such as the World Economic Forum and the International Energy Agency, contributing to the global discussion on digital resilience and security in the energy sector.
Before joining EDP, he was Cybersecurity Consulting Practice Leader at Logica TI Portugal, where he established the Iberian center of competence in this area. He began his career at EDINFOR-EDP as a systems administrator and IT analyst.
He is a member of several organizations and committees related to cybersecurity and defense, including the Systems of Cyber Resilience Electricity Group and CISO Community, both of the World Economic Forum, EuroDefense.PT, CIIWA, and the INNCYBER Innovation Hub.
