Os acontecimentos mundiais das últimas décadas implicaram uma grande reestruturação nos hábitos de trabalho em todos os setores da economia. Associado aos riscos diretos da situação pandémica, instituições e pessoas tiveram que adaptar-se com relativa rapidez a novos sistemas de trabalho.
Hoje, mais do que nunca, é importante falar-se da síndrome do Burnout e quem dirige as instituições não pode ignorar tanto os fatores de risco sociológicos como os pessoais. Os custos humanos e económicos deste tipo de fenómenos são difíceis de medir porque em empresas privadas os dados acabam por não ser reportados pelos próprios mas os dados nacionais apontam para um custo social muito elevado.

António Sampaio é médico Psiquiatra e Doutor em Política Social pela Universidade de Lisboa. Foi docente convidado de vários estabelecimentos de ensino e investigação (entre os quais a Faculdade de Farmácia da Universidade de Lisboa e a Universidade Lusófona) e é presentemente diretor clínico da Egoclinic (Clínica em Neurociências) onde exerce psiquiatria. Publicou em autoria ou co-autoria três romances inspirados na sua experiência clínica.
