Natalia Levina has received her Ph.D. in Information Technology from MIT’s Sloan School of Management and is a Full Professor at New York University Stern School of Business. Her main research interest is in understanding how people span organizational, professional, cultural, and other boundaries while producing and using technological innovations. Currently, her studies focus on the evaluation and adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in medicine, open innovation projects, theories of smart contracts, and firm-community relationships in crowdsourcing. A large part of her prior research has focused on strategies and tactics relating to global sourcing of expertise, content, and ideas. Her work has made significant contributions to the understanding of vendor capability building in professional services, multivendor portfolio strategies, knowledge-sharing and collaboration effectiveness for distributed innovation, and strategies for open innovation.
Prof. Levina is an innovative teacher who has developed a unique course on “Digital Innovation & Crowdsourcing,” which has been receiving stellar evaluations in undergraduate, MBA, and Executive MBA programs. She has been nominated for the Best Professor Award by NYU Stern's MBA students. She is a frequent speaker on these topics in academic and industry conferences. Her research has been published in top journals such as Information Systems Research, MIS Quarterly, Organization Science, Academy of Management Journal, Decision Sciences Journal, and Harvard Business Review, among others. She has received the Best Published Paper of 2015 Award in the field of Information Systems, Best Published Paper of 2015 Award from Information & Organization journal, Best Published Paper of 2015 award from Academy of Management Research Methods Division, Best Published Paper of 2014 award from the Academy of Management OCIS Division, numerous best conference paper awards, and two Ph.D. dissertation awards. Prof. Levina has previously served as a Senior Editor at Information Systems Research, as a board member of Organization Science journal, and is currently an editorial board member of Information & Organizations. She has served as a program co-chair for the 2016 International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS) and the conference chair for Collective Intelligence Conference (2016). She has chaired AIS Special Interest Group (SIG) on Grounded Theory Method from 2016-2020. Prof. Levina was awarded numerous research grants including Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Industry Studies Fellowship, IBM Shared University Research Award, and National Science Foundation VOSS Research Grant. World Economic Outlook - Global Trends The invasion of Ukraine has contributed to a significant slowdown in global growth in 2022. Its spillovers through commodity markets, trade, and financial channels are contributing to increase the world inflation. Indeed, fuel and food prices have increased rapidly. The combination of output decline and elevated inflation is complicating the trade-offs central banks are facing between containing price pressures and safeguarding growth. Interest rates are rising exerting pressure on indebted economies. Moreover, many countries have limited fiscal policy space to cushion the impact of the output slowdown on their economies. We will analyse some of the key global trends that will dictate the economic, social and political discussion in the coming years. Sebastian Reiche is Professor of the Department of Managing People in Organizations and Associate Director of Faculty at IESE. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Melbourne, Australia. Prof. Reiche’s research focuses on international assignments and forms of global work, knowledge transfer, talent retention, culture and language in global organizations, and global leadership. He has received several research awards from the prestigious Academy of Management, including the Barry Richman Best Dissertation Finalist Award and the International HRM Scholarly Research Award in two consecutive years, as well as the Journal of International Business Silver Medal for his contributions to international business research. His research has appeared in scholarly journals such as Academy of Management Discoveries, Journal of International Business Studies, Organization Science, Personnel Psychology, Journal of Management Studies, Human Relations, Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, Human Resource Management, and Journal of World Business, among many others. He has also guest edited several special issues in academic journals. His research and expertise have been featured in international press, including The Economist, The Financial Times, Forbes, BBC Capital, Handelsblatt (Germany), El País (Spain), and Você RH (Brazil). Prof. Reiche is Associate Editor of Human Resource Management Journal and co-editor of Advances in Global Leadership. Design Thinking - Prof. Joaquim Vilà Joaquim Vilà is a Professor of Strategic Management, Innovation and Design Thinking, as well as the Academic Director of IESE’s Executive Education Focused Programs on Innovation Implementation and Design Thinking. He has worked as a research fellow at the Reginald H. Jones Center for Management Policy, Strategy and Organization of the Wharton School and as a research associate in the Management and Technology Program, also at Wharton. He serves as an instructor in executive education programs and a consultant on design thinking and innovation capabilities, implementing management innovation, and drivers of sustainable innovative culture, as well as experiential learning in design thinking for creative problem solving and developing innovation capabilities in top leaders and strategic thinking capabilities in middle managers. He provides consulting to more than 50 national and international corporations, including Roche Diagnostics, Amgen, Telefónica, Komatsu, Nutrexpa, Uniland, APLI, Henkel, Nestlé, Premo and Sener. He also serves as innovation director in the board of several Spanish companies. Prof. Vilà has published in the areas of innovation and design thinking, strategy making, organizational renewal and top- management innovation systems. His current research focuses on: how to improve innovation competencies through strategic thinking, design innovation, and the role of top-management leadership in reinventing and transforming a business, as well as how to nurture a sustainable culture of innovation.

World Economic Outlook - Global Trends - Prof. Pedro Videla Pedro Videla is professor and head of the Economics Department at IESE Business School and holder of Banco Sabadell Chair of Emerging Markets. He holds a Ph.D. and an MA in economics, both from the University of Chicago, and a commercial engineering degree in economics from the Universidad Católica de Chile. His areas of specialization include macroeconomics, international economies and emerging economies. As a consultant Prof. Videla has been involved in projects with institutions such as the World Bank, IMF, EU, the Inter American Development Bank, and the USAID. [/av_toggle] [av_toggle title='Oradores e Professores' tags=''] Joann Halpern é Diretora do Hasso Plattner Institute, Nova Iorque (HPI) e Professora Adjunta no Departamento de Estatística Aplicada, Ciências Sociais e Humanidades da Universidade de Nova Iorque. Antes de ingressar na HPI, foi Diretora Fundadora do Centro Alemão de Investigação e Inovação (GCRI), criado como projeto pioneiro do governo alemão na internacionalização da ciência e a investigação.

Como diretora global de assuntos académicos e estudantis e professora de educação internacional na Global College of Long Island University, liderou o processo de internacionalização do campus e esteve envolvida na revisão do currículo da Global College.

De 1996 a 2001, foi diretora de programas internacionais na Universidade Harz em Wernigerode, Alemanha, onde criou mais de 20 programas de intercâmbio universitário, lecionou licenciaturas e codesenvolveu programas de duplo grau em administração de empresas e gestão turística. Também cofundou a Knowledge Transfer Beyond Boundies, uma ONG com projetos nos Camarões, Nigéria, Iémen e Antígua.

Halpern recebeu o bacharelato na Universidade de Dartmouth, tem um mestrado da Universidade de Harvard e Doutoramento na Universidade de Nova Iorque. Lecionou cursos de estudos globais, comunicação intercultural, educação internacional, inglês empresarial e alemão nos Estados Unidos (Universidade de Harvard, Dartmouth College, NYU) e Alemanha (Universidade de Magdeburg, Universidade de Harz). Atualmente realiza workshops de desenvolvimento de carreiras e design thinking em vários países em todo o mundo.

Halpern é um dos galardoados com o Prémio de Distinção no Ensino da Universidade de Harvard, bem como bolsas de estudo e bolsas da Comissão Fulbright, DAAD, Fundação Robert Bosch e da National Endowment for the Humanities. Colabora nos Conselhos consultivos da Universidade Técnica de Dortmund, Centro Alemão de Investigação e Inovação, University Alliance Ruhr, Charité Entrepreneurship Summit e no Conselho Consultivo Externo do Instituto de Invenção, Inovação e Empreendedorismo de Tandon.

John Almandoz é professor no Departamento de Gestão de Pessoas em Organizações do IESE. Tem experiência em consultoria atuarial, banca corporativa e gestão de organizações sem fins lucrativos. Obteve o doutoramento em Comportamento Organizacional e um mestrado em Sociologia pela Harvard Business School/Universidade de Harvard e um MBA pela Cox School of Business da Southern Methodist University.

Publicou em revistas de prestígio como a Academy of Management Journal e a Administrative Science Quarterly e participa em investigação sobre empreendedorismo, instituições e equipas de gestão de topo e conselhos de administração. A sua dissertação centrou-se nas implicações estratégicas e empresariais das missões comunitárias e financeiras nas equipas fundadoras de bancos locais.

É revisor da Conferência da Academia de Gestão e revisor ad-hoc da Academy of Management Journal, Administrative Science Quarterly, Organization Studies e outras revistas. Apresentou trabalhos em várias conferências e seminários internacionais, incluindo em Harvard, MIT, Oxford e na Academia de Gestão. É membro da Academia de Gestão, da Associação Americana de Sociologia e do Grupo Europeu de Estudos Organizacionais.

Almandoz leciona nos programas de MBA, Executive MBA e Global Executive MBA sobre liderança e comportamento organizacional e gestão de si mesmo.

Luis Cabral é doutorado pela Universidade de Stanford (1989), licenciado em Economia pela UCP e tem mestrado na mesma área pela UNL. É professor de Economia na NYU e na AESE, tendo sido docente nas universidades: Nova de Lisboa, London Business School, London School of Economics, Berkeley, Yale, IESE. Atualmente, ocupa a cátedra Paganelli-Bull de Economia na New York University. É pesquisador do Centro de Pesquisa de Política Econômica (CEPR). Natalia Levina doutorou-se em Tecnologias de Informação pela Sloan School of Management do MIT e é professora catedrático na New York University Stern School of Business. O seu principal interesse pela investigação é compreender como as pessoas atravessam fronteiras organizacionais, profissionais, culturais e outras, enquanto produzem e utilizam inovações tecnológicas. Atualmente, os seus estudos centram-se na avaliação e adoção de Inteligência Artificial (IA) na medicina, em projetos de inovação abertos, em teorias de contratos inteligentes e nas relações entre empresas e comunidades de crowdsourcing. Grande parte da sua investigação até à data focou-se em estratégias e táticas relacionadas com o fornecimento global de conhecimentos, conteúdos e ideias. O seu trabalho tem dado contributos significativos para a compreensão da capacidade de financiamento em serviços profissionais, estratégias de portfólio multivendedor, partilha de conhecimento e eficácia de colaboração para a distribuição de inovação e estratégias para a inovação aberta. É oradora frequente sobre estes temas em conferências académicas e industriais. A Prof. Levina é uma professora inovadora que desenvolveu um curso único sobre "Digital Innovation & Crowdsourcing", e tem vindo a receber avaliações extremamente positivas em programas de licenciatura, MBA e MBA Executivo. Foi copresidente do programa para a Conferência Internacional de Sistemas de Informação (ICIS) em 2016 e presidente da conferência para a Conferência de Inteligência Coletiva (2016). Presidiu ao AIS Special Interest Group (SIG) sobre o Método da Teoria Fundamentada em 2016-2020. A Prof. Levina recebeu numerosas bolsas de investigação, incluindo a Bolsa de Estudos da Indústria da Fundação Alfred P. Sloan, o IBM Shared University Research Award e o National Science Foundation VOSS Research Grant. Foi professora visitante na Warwick Business School, na Universidade de Cambridge (Reino Unido), nos Estados Unidos do Havai e na Universidade da Califórnia em Santa Barbara.

Sonia Marciano é Professora Clínica na Stern School of Management desde julho de 2007. Ela leciona nos programas de MBA executivo em tempo integral, meio período e da Stern, bem como na faculdade de graduação. Ela é diretora acadêmica da Stern para o TRIUM – um programa conjunto de MBA executivo que inclui Stern, LSE e HEC. Marciano recebeu o NYU Distinguished Teaching Award 2022, que é conferido a até 6 professores selecionados entre mais de três mil nas mais de 20 escolas que compõem a Universidade de Nova York. O prêmio é baseado em contribuições de alunos, ex-alunos e colegas atuais. Lecionou cursos de MBA e MBA executivo em Booth, Kellogg, Wharton e Yale. O 5G oferece o suporte de comunicações, os avanços nas tecnologias de realidade aumentada e virtual têm dado contributos significativos e o blockchain a segurança. Estas tecnologias permitem às empresas expandir o mundo e criar experiências imersivas, melhorar o desempenho, reduzir custos e aumentar a relação com o cliente. A única incerteza é se as equipas de gestão terão a visão e a audácia para começar a capitalizar nestas ferramentas ou se irão ceder o futuro aos seus concorrentes.
Centenas de marcas, como a Microsoft, Nike, Louis Vuitton, Disney, Coca-cola, Hyundai e a Apple contam com a explosão do metaverso, como comprovam os seus elevados investimentos. Uma investigação da Accenture de 2022 a 4.600 líderes de negócios e tecnologia, concluiu que 71% dos executivos acreditam que o metaverso terá um impacto positivo sua organização, mas apenas 42% acreditam que será um avanço ou desenvolvimento transformacional.
O metaverso permite a criação de ecossistemas em que os clientes interagem e usam serviços inovadores das empresas que os fornecem. Empresas de vanguarda usam também a RA no desenvolvimento de produtos, produção, logística, marketing, serviço e formação, obtendo grandes ganhos em qualidade e produtividade. A RA pode melhorar a forma como os utilizadores visualizam informações, recebem instruções e interagem com os produtos.
O potencial é enorme e nos mais variados campos. No módulo de introdução às Finanças Corporativas procura-se ajudar a entender as Demonstrações de Resultados e Balanços, e ir um pouco mais longe e aprender a analisar e diagnosticar a situação financeira da empresa e das eventuais causas que podem estar por detrás de situações financeiras difíceis. O conhecimento das causas é um primeiro passo para dar os remédios oportunos e antecipar os seus efeitos previsíveis. A experiência demonstra que, com um mínimo de rigor e método, os participantes aprendem a retirar conclusões relevantes para o andamento das empresas, capacitando-os para tomar decisões fundamentadas.
A direção de uma equipa de vendas pressupõe um cuidado e uma atenção concreta às e aos vendedores, aos instrumentos motivacionais e às políticas. Quem a dirige pode, com uma atitude errada, frustrar e paralisar uma força de vendas, e fazer algo que a concorrência agradecerá seguramente: ter o vendedor a discutir com a sua chefia sobre as injustiças a que está sujeito. Como cuidar da motivação de uma força de vendas nestes momentos desafiantes por que passamos? No plano comercial é também importante cuidar dos aspetos negociais. Uma negociação profissional pode, e deve, ser preparada. Há decisões a tomar durante a negociação, que poderão ser tanto mais acertadas quanto mais tivermos preparado a negociação. Como preparar uma negociação para ser bem sucedida?
O trabalho em equipa é uma de várias formas de colaboração, visando atingir uma determinada eficácia. O elemento diferenciador de uma equipa são as pessoas, pois cada uma delas é irrepetível. A realidade aumentada e virtual pode parecer ficção científica, mas é uma tecnologia que as organizações viradas para o futuro já estão a usar hoje. Oferecem às empresas uma forma clara de melhorar o desempenho, reduzir custos e aumentar a satisfação do cliente. A única incerteza é se as equipas de gestão terão a visão para começar a capitalizar nestas ferramentas ou se irão ceder o futuro aos seus concorrentes.
Segundo o relatório IBM 2020 US Retail Index, a pandemia acelerou em 5 anos a mudança para as compras digitais e numa pesquisa global da Neilsen de 2019, os consumidores indicaram que as principais tecnologias para os ajudarem no dia a dia irão ser a realidade aumentada (RA) e virtual (RV). Pouco mais da metade (51%) afirmou estar disposta a usar essas soluções para avaliar as compras.
A Shopify revelou recentemente que as interações com produtos com RA mostram um rácio de conversão 94% superior face a produtos sem RA. Antes a RA era vista como um recurso interessante, mas está a tornar-se numa tecnologia cada vez mais importante.
Durante a pandemia o uso da RA disparou com experiências virtuais de "experimente antes de comprar", que vão da virtualização de móveis e artigos domésticos de marcas como a Ikea, até à experimentação virtual de moda de luxo, como Louis Vuitton e Gucci.
A RA permite que os conteúdos digitais sejam sobrepostos e misturados com o mundo real. Além de objetos 2D e 3D que se podem esperar outros ativos digitais, como arquivos de áudio e vídeo, informações textuais e até mesmo informações olfativas ou táteis, podem ser incorporados na experiência dos utilizadores.
A RA está a surgir nos media (por exemplo, notícias, entretenimento, desporto) e noutras áreas (por exemplo, no e-commerce, viagens, marketing e vendas) de maneiras tangíveis e emocionantes seja para atividades profissionais (acesso a documentação técnica) seja para atividades lúdicas (como jogos ou atividades em grupo). Vários relatórios indicam que a RA virá a ser usada amplamente nos campus universitários.
O potencial é enorme, e nos mais variados campos, mas há também muitos desafios que passam, por exemplo, pela criatividade para desenvolver soluções que entusiasmem os clientes e que entreguem real valor, aceder ao talento muito escasso nestas matérias, os custos iniciais de desenvolvimento e a massa critica necessária para diluir esses investimentos, garantir a continuidade do desenvolvimento, aceitação e utilização destas soluções pelos decisores, etc.
